I'm looking at upgrading my chain rings, my bike is an all terrain tourer with 26'' wheels, I'll be using it for a variety of roles from light bike packing with some off-road to occasional trips into town. I'm a fairly fit middle aged man with slight-medium build, defintiely built for endurance rather than explosive power. Top speed is not a primary concern, although a decent cruising speed would be nice.
The cassette is a minty 8 speed XTR and frankly I don't want to change it, rare as hens teeth in this condition and very expensive when they do come up, so I'm looking to play with the chain rings, currently I have t sets, stock and a nice Middleburn set, Ideally I'd like to use one of these but would consider buying new if it's going to improve the riding...
>Stock XTR - 46,36,26
>Middleburn - 50,40,28
Gears - 12,14,16,17,21,24,28,32
Any ratio experts here who can offer me some advice?
