>>1513663That's the other thing, the acid only changes a very thin layer of metal. Without a clear coat, a fully anodized bike would show every scratch, and there wouldn't be a good way to touch it up.
For solid colors, a dye is usually added. But at that point you might as well just paint it, it would last longer.
