I was going to ask the question "why is Park Tool shit so expensive?" but actually I think I'm going to change this into a declarative statement.
Fuck Park Tool. Their prices are literally absurd and you're paying a MASSIVE premium for the name. I can buy tools which do exactly the same fucking thing and are more than good enough for the job for a fraction of the price. Taiwanese companies make some pretty good tools, e.g. X-Tools are Taiwanese I think. And they're fine, they get the job done, for a fraction of the price. Draper tools, probably more trustworthy and reliable than Taiwanese stuff, also make some stuff that is suitable for bike use (e.g. torque wrenches) and again, it's a fraction of the price of Park Tool shit, even though Draper are a pretty well-rated brand. Also Decathlon do many tools as well, for pretty damn affordable prices. Topeak as well. There are tons of options that will get the job done, and some of these brands are widely-used and definitely not completely bargain basement tier. And they're a fraction of the price of Park Tool shit.
Pic related is the only Park Tool product I've ever bought and it was a gift for someone else. And this was before I ever really looked into tools so I didn't know Park Tool's reputation at that time. If I had, maybe I wouldn't have bought this just out of spite.
The only thing worse than an expensive product is one where the name of the brand is being used to inflate that price. Where a significant part of the money you're spending is literally just for the name.
Sorry for this rant. Feel free to answer my original question of "why is this shit so expensive" if you want but yeah, I just wanted to point out that this company sucks.
