>>1561024>Why? Is the extension of the modern RDs to big?Its something that came from MTBs. Modern RDs are built around one specific cassette size. From memory - in Shimano land SS types are for 11-28, GS types are for 11-32. If you veer too much out of that specific size, then shifting quality deteriorates quickly.
For example - if you have a rear mech capable of 11-28, then 11-25 might be doable, but 11-23 is most likely a no go.
For Shimano this pertains to shadow type RDs, for SRAM I think all are affected.
