I currently have riser bars which put me in a more upright position, which is better for my commute.
The step-through shape is nice for getting on after loading up with groceries. It also gives a much looser feel without a top tube that you could brace against your upper leg.
It changed my riding style to something a bit slower, but more fun. My commute is short enough that waiting at traffic lights prevents faster top speed from being any faster end to end. I sprinted much more often on my road bike which put me shoulder to shoulder with MAMILs and pathletes all the time. The downside is that I get cat6-ed much harder when I do pass people, or at red lights.
