Goddamnit FUCK.
I was going to have a nice relaxing overnighter innawoods. Everything was going great until around 5 AM a pack of boars came into my camp and didn't want to leave. I encountered boars before, but normally just coughing or clearing your throat sent them scattering in panic or at least avoiding you in a wide circle. These just made noises at me and didn't budge. I was up and looking for a tree to climb when they finally left. Then as soon as I got back into my hammock, they came back and get even closer this time. At this point I'm shouting and banging pots and all it does is make them come towards me. I'm really freaking out, if it was only one I could probably outmaneuver it around a tree, but if they decide to attack in a group, I'm fucked. Finally after a staring contest of about 8 thousand years, they reluctantly back off into the woods and I perform a rapid tactical exfil in the pre-dawn twilight to a rest area half a klick away.
Lessons for today:
- fashion some sort of a club for yourself before going to sleep
- know where the nearest climbable tree is
- don't pitch in an oak forest in autumn
