>>1891331>>1891437Detroit had three major stations at one time. Picrel is the Grand Trunk’s Brush St. station, located about where the Renaissance Center is today. There was also the Fort Street terminal, used by several different railroads. The Michigan Central depot was always kind of a white elephant, built with the assumption that the center of urban development would be drawn to it when it moved up Woodward instead. A lot of that office space was never filled and the surrounding area stayed working class residential. It’s nice to see it preserved though and what Ford did is better that earlier plans for a jail or casino. Too bad it’s not a train station and Detroit has such shit Amtrak, with no link to Canada or trains to the east via Toledo.
