The third generation Gas Turbine Electrics had a power output of 8500 hp with 212,312 lbf of tractive effort. Out of the 55 built, only two are preserved in nonoperational condition. While they were powerful, they guzzled fuel at twice the rate of the least efficient Diesel Electric. The UP din't consider this a problem initially since they used Bunker C heavy fuel oil to feed them. Overall length was 80 feet without the tender.
