110+km ride this morning. I was only aiming for 100, my route was longer than I thought. A pickup and a semi almost hit me near the halfway point. The roads were completely deserted for the past two hours, until I had to slow down and take a left turn into a neighborhood. I see these two guys behind me doing 65mph at least, it was close enough that I went off road before they passed to avoid being hit. Ironically it happened right next to a share the road sign. It had become extremely foggy and I couldn't see anything past my front wheel at all on a street I've never been on before, so I slowed down much more than I would have liked. At 65km my back and shoulders were aching, at 80km I was literally butthurt, out of energy, and ready to be done with it. I was drinking Gatorade until that point. I switched to my bottle of energy powder mix and the caffeine nullified most of the pain. All that remained were the hilly parts until the end of the ride and my legs weren't letting me past the second easiest gear for the most part.
Pretty miserable ride really, it stopped being fun after 65km and my hands were slipping from the condensation all over my bar tape and hoods. Pic was my saddle. I replaced my Selle Italia when I bought the bike, it wasn't comfortable and this saddle was $7 from China so why not. I'll willing to give the Selle Italia another shot for my next big ride.
