A teaser for expansions on the SEQ rail network just dropped on Mark Bailey's Facebook page. looks like they're finally getting around to actually developing all those proposed extensions that have been in the pipeline since the Beatie days. Sunshine coast branch, Springfield extension (possibly to Ipswich?), Beaudesert branch, Gold Coast Airport extension and a Rosewood extension (maybe to Toowoomba?)
No details at the moment so it looks like these are just in the "study" phase but it's nice to see that they're actually dusting the cobwebs off these 2 decade old plans. I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of a corridor in the north west though, especially considering that the BCC announced they're going to do a study into transport options for the north west transport corridor. What a fucking waste it would be if they just paved over it with a highway and nothing else. Nothing about inner metro plans either so it looks like we're SOL for any east-west link for the next decade which Brisbane DESPERATELY needs. Thoughts?
