Yeah they get shit on for fixed bearing one side, float other, leading to 'premature' wear on the drive side relative to the non-drive but come on, I got 35,000 miles without regreasing service or anything in some harsh conditions on a 48/47-16 fixed gear doing autistic curb jumps. Replacing them is relatively low cost too, the problem however is increasing part rarity as it's being phased out for a fixed/fixed bearing configuration. I got far less miles from internal cartridge bearings. 50,000 miles could be seen with some care, most people don't ride even close to that
