And keeping your foot in place on the pedal while backpedaling is a big advantage on a curvy descent on the road, or through rough sections offroad, or just maneuvering at slower speeds anywhere.

>>2029212If the rim itself is taco'ed sometimes the last resort solution is to smash the offending area into a hard surface and see if you can get it back into more or less alignment. It's worth trying if the wheel is clearly gone past the point of being trueable and you have nothing left to lose. I have salvaged wheels this way multiple times both on the side of the road after a crash and in shops for customers.
