Third Avenue Railway System “Huffliner” named after their president Slaughter W. Huff. This was a sort of knock-off PCC as they couldn’t afford the real deal so built these instead in their own shops. Note the lack of trolley poles as they ran on Manhattan conduit powered lines.

Huffliners are more like knockoff PCCs. TARS couldn’t afford to buy PCCs so they updated the 1920s Peter Witt style car with a sleeker design, aluminum bodies and better gearing and suspension. They didn’t have trolley poles either as they ran off underground conduit.
