I like to think it's also appropriate because Japan was prohibited from developing aircraft after the war, their long distance domestic travel became high speed trains, and their population density, engineering genius and insectoid like collectivism also made rail prolific. So Japan is a mecca for trains.
Japan also pioneered modern bicycle development and the by far largest component maker since the 80s (Shimano) is Japanese. And that the Japanese aesthetics and ethos around minimalism and simplicity are very bicycle-like.
