The suspension works to articulate the axles, not for vertical travel to absorb bumps for smoothness. The tires at low PSI do the dampening. Jeeps come with like, 33" tires tires and rock crawlers will use huge 44" tires
Over off camber stuff, some rock crawlers can have like 36" of travel, but are very bumpy over stuff when both tires hit the obstacle. The axles flex, but not INDEPENDENTLY
