My mother is originally from the Soviet Union, so that's where the issue starts from. I'm officially not a Russian citizen, but if the Russian embassy or whatever starts insisting I am, then.... I'm basically fucked.
Plus, there's some other reasons I don't want to go to Russia. Plus, I like Ukraine, and the only legit way to enter Crimea without being banned from Ukraine is to cross the land border.
Previously, before the annexation, there used to be a seasonal, once a week flight between London Gatwick and Simferopol Airport. I have flown into that shithole of an airport before, but into the domestic terminal, which is a real shitshow.
The 20 minute taxi from runway to apron wasn't nice either, as it was super bumpy and just... ew.
