>>1783953I don't live my life trying to antagonize others. I give people space and they mostly respect mine. Not even because you can't win playing chicken against a 2 ton vehicle. My perspective changed on my first driving lesson when 20 seconds after I pulled out a lady on a bicycle bombed down my one way street towards me after appearing from behind a parked car. I managed to swerve and avoid her by sheer luck, but I can only imagine what my life would be like if I ran over a 50 year old woman on my first time driving a car. Most drivers aren't actively trying to kill you, and I'm always more scared of distraction than enmity. I've lived both in the US and in Italy and I found the American drivers to be superior (at least in the Midwest) than European ones. Don't be a dick and I've been surprised time and time again by respectful and thoughtful drivers, but I'm not saying things are perfect as they are.
