the light rail station is RIGHT FUCKING NEXT to the convention center. Literally right there. But if you wanted to take public transit your first idea is walking to a bus stop 30 minutes away from your house, and then sitting in traffic just like you would do in your car, except in a bus.
The rail infrastructure in this city, while being nowhere near as comprehensive as the old subway system or streetcar lines, is still pretty decent desu. Especially when you live in the heart of LA like you do.
I don't know where you live, but given how close you are from LA convention center you are easily within bikeable distance to a metro station. Google maps tends to over estimate their ETAs for public transit to be on the safe side - I have always arrived earlier than the times they've given in app. I guarantee you that you could get to LA convention center faster by bike + train than you could by car during rush hour.
