Nordhausen runs the shortest possible three-segement Combinos (20 m lenght) which is already pretty questionable to maintain rail infrastructure for.
Combino trams by themselves also have terrible interior design with the motors sticking into the doorless sections, allowing only 1+1 seating where normally you would put the most seats.
To top that off, the Diesel-Combinos have the engine and generator into the middle section (the big empty space in the picture), resulting in a tram "vehicle" with a whopping 27+3 seats.
