I guess it is one of those distinctly Australian things where the government takes brown paper bags and all the tender participants just happen to have absurdly inflated prices anyway. Not unlike one of the roads which was cancelled here. $18 billion for 18km a tunnel or $1 million a metre. Even the entire Gotthard Base tunnel was cheaper. But I digress
I'm surprised they didn't just retrofit the SiC inverters to the existing N700 like how Odakyu et al. did it to their commuter trains
>>972215Tokaido Shinkansen is probably too rough for that. There's the Atami curve which iirc is still something like 170 km/h amongst others. If they could manage a consistent 320 km/h though, I'd be quite impressed especially if the g forces can be managed. The N700's acceleration is also already at the upper limit of comfort for a high speed train, edging itself into that of commuter trains
