>>1930546I flew corporate & charter for a few years. I think every pilot should try to fly right seat in a lear or challenger at 1000 hours and just get a feel for flying a jet and how that side of the industry works. IMO if you live close to an airport that has a charter company its not a bad deal. You won't make nearly as much as an Airline pilot long term but you'll know your boss, meet celebrities, fly to cool rich people cities you never knew existed, and essentially get paid to live a watered down version of 1%ers vacations. The downside is you really a treated like someones bitch 24/7. If a trip pops up at 5am, you better get your ass to the plane. The shitter has piss all over it and your passengers are 15 minutes out, get the Clorox wipes. The FBO is taking an eternity to bring the fuel truck to your plane and you passengers are complaining about being delayed, flag down the line tech and chew his ass out. Ran out of cheese-its & fiji water in the galley? Guess whos taking time out of their rest period to run to publix? I look at my time in charter like my time in highschool- kinda fun, kinda sucked, happy it happened but even happier its over.
