It has a nice cover/coating that is not easy to get through, the bars themselves are pretty thick, and the sizing/.shape of the lock prevents would-be criminals from getting a good hold/leverage if they were to use bolt cutters. Get one, been using them for years in a bike-centric city and I haven't had any problems.
