I don't want a mountain bike because I want to be able to ride without electricity as well and I think that shocks are an unnecessary complication for a bicycle you ride on roads. I'm thinking of going with a hybrid probably, single speed if I can choose, might even convert an ordinary bike into single speed by removing the derailleur lol. I've been riding single speed for four years now and I like it, I don't live in a very hilly area so I think the simplicity is well worth it.
Something similar to pic related seems pretty ideal to me, fenders and maybe thicker tires would be an improvement though.
