Recently found a job as a bike mechanic which required relatively little experience. Learned a ton, assembled my new bike from scratch yesterday. Surly Long Haul Trucker frame and bombproof Ryde rims with Sapim spokes. Probably overkill but I'll drive this thing from NW Europe to Pakistan or Nepal within one or two years. 26" and v-brakes for max worldwide compatibility, scavenged drivetrain from my workplace, mostly Alivio. Haven't mounted the racks yet because I don't need them at home. Still have to tweak it to my position but drives like a charm.
