A Bianchi Axis has been my gravel bike since I bought it in 1989.
I live near the Forest of Nisene Marks. I do a 28 mile out and back ride, only a few miles are shared with cars. The fire road is hard pack and gravel; in the winter the trail is covered with pine needles. Strava says the ride has 4500ft of climb.
This old Bianchi Axis has given me the most joy per dollar of any bike I've owned. I ride other (road) bikes around the County, but I think the fire roads are safer because trees and rocks dont text.
