McMansions were considered tacky when they first went up and still are because they are badly-designed. Not just from an aesthetic point of view but functionally, too.
Brownstones are classic housing for millionaires now because they're well-designed.
If you say brownstones are mcmansions it just means you don't know anything about housing.
