Because I don't see the loss in comfort worth the hypothetical gain in safety after almost 30 years of riding bicycles and sometimes doing some stupid shit and never receiving a head injury.

I'd consider it if I got into road cycling and had to spend much more time surrounded by cars on country roads, or if I got into downhill mountain biking, but for 1.5 mile communiting through side streets and pedestrian zones and occasionally doing a casual little tour on bike paths I just don't see the necessity or benefit.
