I want the groad trend to stay, simply because of the overwhelming dominance of car culture making road biking fucking suck. Millenials finally started buying cars, so what used to be nice quiet country roads here in Oregon are teeming with Subarus, Priuses, and redneck sleds. To find good quiet roads, you have to become part of the problem and drive out to the middle of nowhere with your bike in tow. Meanwhile, MTBing got absurd with massive tire sizes, technical tracks, and other shit that roadies don't enjoy. So the industry bringing back the 80s MTB with new tech was really cool to me, except much of what was out there was way too expensive. But it does look like some companies are starting to push less expensive stuff (like the Journeyman, Haanjo, and Diverge, which finally got clearance for 42c+ tires), which is really cool.
>>1170527Yeah, I built up a fun lil' guy from an old Novara Buzz frame, and it's hilariously fun for gravel and semi-technical shit, as the short wheelbase makes it wickedly nimble, but I can't go more than 20 miles on it because it's much too small for me. So now I'm kinda jonesing for a n+1. A longer stem and different bars on the Buzz might be all I really need tho.
