I find that any complaints about the international portion of St Pancras generally boil down to 'inconvenient things like border control should happen to other people, not me, this is probably the train company's fault and they are doing this on purpose'.

I don't know if GWR are terrified of anything touching their precious Pullman Dining Experience (tm) but, even in first class on their flagship London-Bristol route, the most you'll get is a complementary bag of crisps, pack of shortbread, and a hot drink; and if you're in standard, cross fingers and hope there's something on the trolley by the time it reaches you. Meanwhile on LNER you can at least get a hot sandwich and a tin of their own-brand booze or something
