>>1830483I don't know what's so hard to believe, Ultegra isn't particularly rare or expensive, especially if it already came on a used bike like it did on mine. Both do their job, on the rear Ultegra shifts really fast, while Altus only shifts pretty fast. Both make a similar crunching noise when changing cogs, so I can't even give Ultegra points for smoothness or refinement (which is a pointless luxury anyway). The front shifting on Altus from the middle to the smallest ring can sometimes take up to 1,5 seconds because the cable tension needs to be adjusted, but that's the only significant difference I've found. Like I said, if it wasn't for the number of gears, I'm perfectly happy with low end groupsets.
