I picked up some thinner xc tires for my Hardtail. Currently have a really aggressive 2.3" front, with a slightly smaller, less knobby 2.3" rear. I really like them but want to try something new.
I have never gotten a front flat, but have dented a rear wheel before and have a fair share of pinch flats on the rear. I dont go too low with tire psi, and not fat. Im thinking of going against the grain and putting the 2.0" front, and the 2.2" rear. That way theres more cushion since I put much more weight on back tire. However I know its better to have a wider front for stability and cornering.
Will I eat shit and die if I put a 2" front and 2 1/8" rear instead of the opposite?
Also the difference is more like 1/16" (or 1.58mm) in width, when flat. Does that really make a difference? Asking cause you guys bicker over 25mm and 28mm and the difference seems so minimal...
