Should I buy a new bike? Currently I am riding 2012 alloy frame and fork Defy, but pretty much every component has been replaced. The groupset is 10sp Tiagra 4700, only the crank is 105. It weights 9.1 kg with pedals, so it should be around 8.7 without. The stem and bars are still the original ones and they are super heavy, I could easily shave 200-300 grams more by buying inexpensive newer alloy bars and stem. The wheels are also kinda heavy, but I was doing a lot of commuting on this bike so I bought bomb-prove 32 spoke wheels on purpose. Weight wise it seems similar to what I could buy today as “endurance” bike, the difference is that the newer bikes are carbon and with disk brakes at that weight. I could easily afford couple of grands for a new bike, something like Canyon Endurace, but I am not convinced that there will be significant difference in the ride quality or performance. Am I wrong? Should I just coonsume and go ahead and buy a new bike or stick with what I have? I must say it also gives me great satisfaction when I drop somebody who rides significantly more expensive bike with this bike.
