need advice
last year i did training based on a standard periodization plan. (desigened it myself following the cyclist training bible book). had good results (based on time trial tests, no powermeter here). this year after a pause due to injury ive returned training. thing is i also fell in love with street bmx riding. and thats my problem.
for the past 2 months ive been trying to mix road bike training (my main focus) with a bit of bmx in between, basically i do small 1hr-1.5hr rides on recovery/easy days (the ones i should be doing z2) or the ones i have for free. i try to leave a day without pedaling during the week.
im mainly doing manuals and jumping, the first ones really tire down your leggs, its kinda like doing a eternal squat in the higher position.
anyway, the thing is that it seems ive created too much fatigue, my recoveries are all fucked up and i feel im not doing well on the road bike. as im also returning from a long injury its hard to measure things and the body is adapting a lot.
so m y question, or more than that my need of advice is regarding this.. does anyone else here mix another sport ? is it doable? am i fucked? i dont wanna ride too much bmx, just a couple times a week is cool.. but i havent found the right formula or i just need more adaptation time... btw i have never done weights but in my training plan i have a general fitness routine done on easy days , in wich i focus on core exercises and arms and stuff.
any niput or experience is more than welcomed. thanks and sorry for my crappy english.
i would take it slow and just do one thing but im a bit old (32) so i feel not doing one thing for a whole season or two is loosing a nice chance that is gonna go away fast... precious time, shit!
