A somewhat controversial topic among transit enthusiasts but to me it makes perfect sense.
In most of the world, bus stops are a few hundred meters apart.
For some reason, in America, we space them every couple blocks, which makes riding the bus extremely slow and kills ridership.
Consolidating bus stops would improve commute times and increase ridership, but any time the city proposes removing a bus stop, the locals get enflamed and claim there's 200 crippled old ladies who can't survive without that one bus stop 100 feet from that other bus stop.
Elon Levy wrote about this and I still think about it when I go to other countries and ride their buses.
