I'm a bit frustrated by bike lanes. Intersections are by far the most dangerous place on a bike.
Take this pic for example. If there was no bike lane, i'd ride to the middle of the lane just before the intersection, so that no one could turn around me as i go straight through, and i'm more visible, and then i'd ride back to the side of the road once i'm through.
But the bike lane forces me to cross through on the very side, so cars from behind can hook around me.
It's more dangerous. And most bike lanes are either like this, or they just stop at the intersection. A couple have the bike lane on a different light cycle to the straight and turning traffic and mean you wait twice as long.
What's the solution to this?
