Remember when Trump visted the first rollout of the 787-10?
Last major politician I can remember visiting an Airbus facility for something was the Mayor of Mobile and the Governor of Alabama visiting the Airbus facility in Mobile for the ground breaking of the new A220 assembly facility there. I cannot remember many politicians turning up for the flight flight of many Airbus products. Usually, politicians only visit Airbus facilities to talk about how their leadership has lead to whatever amount of engineering jobs existing in the country as some PR stunt during an election campaign. I've seen this be a thing in the UK, Germany and Spain.
Trump actually going to Boeing to make an unrelated poltical speech in front of an airliner just makes me think that Boeing is lobbying Trump hard, and they're letting him use their brand as a campaign tool.
Modern Boeing is shit. The last time Boeing was any good was during the 767 and 757 era. 777 was "meh", but it had heat exchanger problems which resulted in one aircraft loosing a lot of altitude in cruise, Delta Airlines Flight 18. The flight crew recovered control over the engine thrust levels and nothing else happened.
British Airways Flight 38 on the other hand was when the 777 fucked over a customer. There were no fatalities, but thanks to quick thinking by the flight crew to reduce flaps, they survived.
Boeing has terrible quality control and they're now resorting to underhanded tactics, like going to the FTC and whining, eliminating all competition in the US and outsourcing as much as they can, in an attempt to increase profits per plane sold.
