>>1900191When riding an area I try to optimize for flow / continuous movement minimizing u-turns. I don't bother trying to preplan an order because navigation on my Garmin ends up being more trouble than its worth popping up turn info and hiding the map. I'll usually make a route that highlights what I want to cover, then I'll set the route to "Always Display" on the Garmin, but not activate navigation. I'm pretty good at optimizing on the fly.
I came across one path with packed but non-glazed snow today. The roads have gotten much icier over the past few days. Cars splashing water around has created a lot more smooth ice that studs don't grab as well. Lots of ruts right to pavement which makes them deep.
