>>1881252i'm pretty much decided on 48/17 though to prioritize acceleration for riding on smaller streets, and a higher overall cadence is fine with cycling shorts and clipless pedals imo. with 49t, 3/32" width and 130mm BCD there's not that many chainrings to choose from and i'd miss out on the improvements in stiffness-to-weight ratio that comes with a narrow-wide chainring. switching to a 50t litepro chainring would be much cheaper than obtaining another phil wood cog. i might not even need a new chain (the mushroom riveted pins aren't supposed to be reused) because the difference in effective chainstay length between 48/17 and 50/17 is only about 7mm and i have probably a 10-11mm margin to move the wheel forward.
