This one was a Canadian-American design and was designed to be a true flying saucer unlike the other two. It was originally intended to act as a "flying jeep" and ultimately replace the helicopter as the main VTOL aircraft in the U.S. Air Force.
Projected performance was comparable to a high-performance helicopter of the era, with a 225 knots (417 km/h) maximum speed, 10,000 feet (3,000 m) ceiling, and 130 mile (209 km) range.
The project was canceled in 1961 after it was discovered that the craft could only hover a few feet above ground and would become unstable if it went any higher. Furthermore, it generated so much heat during its operation that all its instruments were baked brown after only a few flights.
