>>1506222There's compromises between one or the other and it isn't about weight. 1/8" rings/cogs are stiffer, stronger, and more durable but 3/32" has stiffer chains at the cost of weaker rings/cogs. A lot of people say it's fine to mix and match components like 1/8" chain and ring with 3/32" cog, I highly discourage that kind of practice. My only chain drop was from mixing that exact setup. 3/32" is more than adequate for aggressive riding, just know that your chainrings and cogs will wear out quick. If you're looking at chains, I highly recommend KMC K710, they're heavy duty as fuck, whether in 1/8 or 3/32. Just remember to keep your whole drivetrain consistant, the last thing you want on a fixie is a chain drop, even if you have brakes.
