I do realize there are more factors than weight that contribute to speed like aerodynamics and rolling resistance which are exponential in nature versus weight which is static. My main point was that it's not fun riding a shitty ebike versus a nicer regular bike for the same price due to inferior components. The way a bike feels is dependent on the build quality and many non-cyclist like OP won't understand that without being concise.
Now I'm not against ebikes even if my commuter is a standard road bike. I built a 1600w ebike for shits and giggles that was a blast even if it was a heavy sealed lead acid battery powered machine. I'll just go back to my point and say, skipping on every other component to motorize a bike is misguided.
