Is knowing the width, length of the taper, shank, threading, and overall length enough to find a replacement cotter pin? I'm unsure if a variable such as the angle of the taper is at play. I've found a few that have the specific dimensions listed, and the dimensions match with only the length of threading varying widely. In my crank arms I have plenty of thread so I'm not too worried about that, but do I need to be? How do I make sure I am buying the correct pin other than double checking measurements against what's listed? Is it mega super important to get a perfect match?
