Schaffhausen has apparently shelved plans to convert bus line 3 to trolleybus operation. Instead, it now aims to be the first european city to fully electrify its bus fleet, using some sort of quick-charge technology, with chargers at the train station, where all bus lines meet and wait for a few minutes to allow interchange between them.
They dun goofed if you ask me. They say battery bus technology is ripe and being used successfully in many places, which seems like quite a stretch considering there's only semi-experimental operations in other cities. They're clearly just trying to show off, instead of going for the safe albeit more expensive option of expanding trolleybus operation.
The single trolleybus line 1 will be converted to in-motion charging, by having the auxiliary diesel engine replaced by batteries. That way overhead wires could be partly removed, saving on maintenance.
