If you are a sidewalk bomber, it may be better to get a light bike for the frequent stopping and starting. The low average speed means air resistance isn't a concern, too. Weight placement is also very important. Just as 10kg shoes are a lot harder to walk with than a 20kg backpack, more weight in the tires is worse than more weight on the frame.
Then there is the relation to hopping. A bunny hop is a jump where the bike is a passenger that goes along with you. If you can't jump high while carrying a bike, you won't be jumping high while riding it.
