Bents are great. They open up your lungs. Very little puffing. on a bent, your rib cage is stretched outwards, instead of inwards on a roadbike. This allows for more relaxer breathing, and better endurance. Just try it out, lean backwards on your chair, you will see your lung capacity increase, and now bent forward, to see it decrease. Also, horizontal position eases bloodflow (not against gravity) which also enhances endurance. I have ridden a bent. Much less tired. but get rid of the chain tube to minimize drivetrain losses. I wish they were cheaper, I would buy a lowracer in a heart beat. I do think, I'd have social shame to overcome. I mean, everyone in the town would know me as that weird bike guy. If you live in a big city, this is not a big problem, bit in a small town, everyone knows each other, and it's a bit scary. Also. downside is maneuvrability. Sometimes U have to stop, get off and walk over the cross section. Atleast I noticed. can't start going on a slope, without blowing your knees out. best to just walk it that part, I noticed.
