>>1597105god that's a fine bike. a reddit special if I see one.... the person who owns this is probalby a bugman yuppie programmer who rarely rides. I think their is a strong tendency for people who are in the "fixed gear scene" to be more interested in "upgrading" their bikes than actually riding. It's become a fashion accessory for many people..a way for people to express their identity. their hobby is not cycling, it's shopping...
i think it's quite sad if you see your bicycle as an extension of your personality or some shit... It reminds me of those photography enthusiasts who collect camera lenses and shit...but don't actually take pictures.
i have more respect for roadies. i think they have a tendency to treat their bicycles as tools in order to get fit...as a means to an end.. but there is probably a fair share of roadies who are also have a fixation on consumption..
I reckon a lot of people who own really nice fixed gear bikes don't ride as much as they think they do.. it's very rare that I ever encounter a fixed gear roadie and that's a shame. it would be a cool niche.. cyclists who rides track bikes with (with both brakes) and are able to lay down some serious watts.
