Pretty much a shitshow since it began and they aren't even close to laying the first bit of track yet

Phase 1 barely saves any time from London to Birmingham
Only benefit is to the North of the country after Phase 2 is complete, but likelyhood is it will be cancelled after Phase 1 goes way over budget
Intensely unpopular with the general public
I've done some work as a sub-contractor on various HS2 projects and the whole system is built on a core of inefficiency, petty political maneuvering and trying to milk the government for as much money as possible, it's a joke
