>>1840089>Pride of DelhiDelhi metro is fast, not just because the trains run at much shorter intervals than the rest of the country, where at peak routes and hours the train come at an interval of every 20-30 seconds but also because of it's fast construction speed.
Delhi metro came into operation in 2002, but the decade of 2004-2014 was one of the slowest phase in Indian economy. The country was basically stagnant, government was corrupt and every day news of new scams (worth billions of dollars) were surfacing.
There were nationwide protests against corruption and demanding transparency in the government, the protests were ignited by the heinous and infamous rape crime that happened in Delhi.
For Delhiites, it was the worst time to be living in the city, the pollution, the notoriety of labeling the city as rape capital, the corrupt central government and the city was basically a hostage between the protestors from all over the country and the central government.
But in all this chaos, Delhi metro was the only stable thing going in the country, while the whole country was stagnant, Delhi metro was rapidly expanding and creating new lines and reaching new areas amid all the chaos.
Delhi metro built a reputation that even when the country is in chaos, Delhi metro never stops expanding. Delhi metro became the symbol of development for the city, the bonus of ease of connectivity and the increase in property value only increased the sentiments.
