People enjoy and use LA's LRT, and it's needed to fix LA's fucked transit. What's the alternative? More highways? Lolno. Subways? Too expensive outside of isolated corridors. BRT? in practice isn't as fast as LRT and has lower capacity without building an inordinately complex BRT system.
LA is also adding subway lines where the cost is justified, BRT lines where they make sense, and are also improving their freeways in practical ways, and are making improvements to pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, but LRT has been and is continuing to be a critical part of LA's public transit renaissance.
