>>1166903>Autonomous cars will be prohibitively expensive This is literally not true though. Auto drive functions are standard on many new cars, even cars thought to be economy boxes. And do you understand how the expenses of software and computers work? The research and development is the expensive part. It's not like some expensive piece, besides the sensors and computer but those are priced in single digit thousands. And with auto drive cars there is an incentive for having mass adoption. In fact if there is no mass adoption the entire system has a much tougher time operating.
And then of course.. there are the authoritarian motives for forcing citizens to accept autodrive battery evs. I promise you that at some point auto drive functions will be required for new cars. Automobile regulation are getting much more encompassing each year. The government is trying to gain as much control over the industry as possible. If they can benefit from auto drive functions they will not make it some rare luxury feature, and like i said, the more auto drive cars there are the better the entire network is.
>the business model They are already pushing leasing over owning. The companies want to retain the legal ownership over the vehicle and only rent it out to customers. This is so they can limit what they do and just have more control in general, and they are able to get more money this way. The most infringing part of this is that they will take away your right to repair your car and to build your own car. If you dont want to rent a new ev drone then too bad. The only option might be cars that are grandfathered in, but i think denmark is talking about doing a mandatory by back program like they were fucking guns or something.
Never give the government an inch of your freedom. You will lose a mile.
